We have all heard the adage that you have to be ready when opportunity knocks. In today’s economy the workforce is changing at such an accelerated rate that opportunity can knock this morning and be gone from the door by lunchtime. In the recruiting industry we constantly see candidates who are not actively looking for a new job but are open to the right position if it were to come along. Many of those same people might be averse to answering a message from someone they don’t know about a job they haven’t applied for. I don’t blame them, you should always approach life changes like that with caution but there is a difference between caution and refusal. A little advice from someone who has seen people’s circumstances change on a dime: It doesn’t hurt to hear someone out and do a little digging. You might just like what you find, life is funny that way. After all, when a new job that could change your life for the better opens up chances are you aren’t the only one who would take it. Don’t let your dream job pass you by because you were too afraid to take a chance.
